Amazon Mom (or Dad)

Lisa told me all about a new program that Amazon is offering called Amazon Mom.  It boils down like this:  if you are a parent, you can "subscribe" to receive certain products on a regular schedule.  For example, I subscribed to garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels.  The things that we constantly run out of, and can't ever seem to remember to get when we are at the store.

Plus, when you sign up for the program, you get 3 months free Amazon Prime service.  And each $25 you spend earns you an additional month. And (there's more), when you subscribe through the program, you get an additional discount.  Some things are discounted more than others -- diapers seems to give you great discounts.

We'll see how well it works out.

Amazon TV?

So, Netflix has hiked their price and made lots of happy subscribers unhappy.  I have primarily used Netflix for their streaming service for the kids, but there have been enough things they wanted to watch that were only on DVD that I thought it was worth the extra two bucks.  Not eight though.  We'll be cancelling that part just prior to the September 1 change.

Of course, there has been some commotion about the big increase and I came across the "Netflix alternatives" list today.  Most of the list was not very comparable, but I noticed that Amazon was listed.  I checked out Amazon Prime Streaming Video and am interested in learning more.  I have always been somewhat of an Amazon fan-boy so I am definitely interested.

It will take a Wii app and mobile device support before I'll switch, but I see the change coming.  Also, I'd like to be able to pay monthly instead of annually, but we'll see what happens.

Walkers will meet at the corner of E. Witherspoon and River Road (cattycorner from Louisville Slugger field).

Meeting Spot

Silver Lake

We packed the kids over to Silver Lake, Michigan this year as part of our vacation. The weather was perfect, the water (Lake Michigan) was nice and cool, and the sand dunes were AMAZING. We took a guided tour of the dunes with RazorJs -- the most fun I've had in a while.  No doubt about it, we'll be back.
